Dr. Olugbemi Olukolade is a Clinical Psychologist with over 19 years of clinical experience in assessing and managing patients with a wide range of psychological disorders. He pioneered the Clinical Psychology Department at University College Hospital, Ibadan, and served as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Ibadan, where he taught at the Distance Learning Centre. He pioneered Diamondmoor Psychological Consult and services the first wholly psychology clinic in Ibadan.
His academic credentials include prestigious postdoctoral fellowships, such as a Commonwealth Scholarship in the UK and a Neuropsychology Fellowship through the NIH/Fogarty programme. His extensive continuing professional development is evidenced by advanced training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Behaviour family Therapy (BFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and numerous other specialist therapeutic modalities.
Dr. Olukolade's doctoral research focused on developing Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy for stroke survivors, reflecting his deep commitment to neurorehabilitation. He has collaborated on research into childhood epilepsy, intelligence quotient, and cognitive factors in child development, and has supervised the professional training of over 100 clinical psychologists during their internships at University College Hospital.
Dr. Olukolade has trained and worked across several countries. He currently practices in the NHS in the UK, having previously worked for many years in both public and private healthcare settings in Nigeria. He also served as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), supporting staff dealing with trauma. He has a proven track record of developing clinical services, including a substance users group therapy clinic and a cognitive rehabilitation therapy programme for stroke and brain injury survivors, the latter of which formed the basis of his PhD research.
Dr. Olukolade is a recipient of the Commonwealth Professional Fellowship (2016), held in Birmingham, United Kingdom. He is a member of the British Psychological Society, American Psychological Association and the World Federation for NeuroRehabilitation. His profile reflects that of a dedicated scientist-practitioner and leader, committed to advancing clinical practice and improving patient outcomes across diverse populations and settings.
